FAQ - General

Q. What is GetBilling and who should use it?
A. We designed GetBilling for professionals who need a simple, fast billing solution that doesn't require expensive software and constant upgrades. With GetBilling, a web browser and computer are all you need to track time and expenses and produce professional invoices. Because it's Web-based, you can access your records from anywhere, any time, via any Web browser or Internet enabled mobile device. Invoicing is as simple as clicking "send" for delivery by e-mail. Our goal is to reduce your administrative burden and enhance your productivity so you can focus on generating revenue.

GetBilling is for small professional service firms, independent consultants, freelancers, and moonlighters who provide services to clients on a time and materials or project basis. Computer consultants, designers, graphic artists, copywriters, lawyers, accountants and financial planners can all use GetBilling.
Q. I'm already using Quickbooks to track my time and expenses. Why should I switch?
A. With Quickbooks, you can only track your time and expenses when you are sitting at your computer. With GetBilling, you can access your records from anywhere. Since GetBilling is designed specifically for time tracking and invoicing, it's easy to use and doesn't require any knowledge of accounting.
Q. What are the advantages of being able to access my account from anywhere?
A. Keeping track of time and expenses is a hassle. The tendency is to leave it all to the last minute and "guestimate" from memory or to keep notes on scraps of paper. Precious billable time and expenses get lost in the process, resulting in you undercharging for services. GetBilling is designed to make sure this doesn't happen. It's easy to update your records from any computer with a Web browser -- Not only will you save time, but you'll see your profits rise.
Q. Can I distribute my invoices without stuffing envelopes?
A. Yes, plus you can avoid frantic last-minute trips to the post office. After you've edited and reviewed your invoices, just click send to deliver them electronically via e-mail. Unlimited e-mail invoicing is free with GetBilling.
Q. Do you need to understand accounting to use GetBilling?
A. No, unlike Quickbooks, Excel and other financial software packages, GetBilling handles the accounting for you. You simply enter your time and expenses, and GetBilling generates all the invoices and financial reports you need to run your business.
Q. Is it easy to track mileage and other expenses?
A. Very. You can use the same simple form to track both your time and expenses for every client. Enter the amount, jot a note and you're done. Your expenses will automatically be added into the invoice. It's that easy.
Q. What types of payment does GetBilling accept?
A. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

FAQ - Managers

Q. How can more than one person use the same account?
A. Easily. An account begins with one user, but additional users can be added at any time. Each user is assigned one of three account access levels: Employee, Manager or Administrator. Account users can enter their time and expenses from different locations — via Web browser, or Internet enabled mobile device — and all the information will be updated under one account. The Administrator can access all levels of the account and view reports and issue invoices based on up-to-the-minute data. Managers and employees have more limited access.
Q. What happens when one of my employees quits? Will he still be able access my records?
A. Absolutely not. As the Administrator, you control access to the account and can deny any user access at any time.
Q. What kind of reporting tools does GetBilling offer?
A. We offer complete accounts receivable reports and a full set of productivity analysis tools.
Q. How does GetBilling separate clients, projects and billing rates?
A. First you add a client, then you can add as many projects for that client as needed. For each project you can define which employees have access and what their billing rate is for that project.
Q. Can I run reports on my employees?
A. You can run all reports on individual employees or groups of employees. The productivity analysis tools show you how many hours your employees billed and to what projects.

Other reports include:
  • Sales by Employees
  • Time Sheets
  • Year-to-date summaries

FAQ - Freelancers

Q. I don't always get paid by the hour. Does GetBilling handle fixed-bids?

Q. I sometimes work as a "moonlighter." Can I use GetBilling?

GetBilling allows you to serve your personal clients as professionally as you would any other client.
Q. I often work on several different projects for the same client. Can I track them all with GetBilling?
A. Yes, you can create as many projects per client as necessary and then track your time and expenses to the specific projects.
Q. How can I use the Week View to simplify my time tracking?
A. If you do the same tasks every day, every week, use the Week View to enter the data for one day and copy it to the other days. Your time tracking is a painless.
